Brief Report in connection with Capacity Building Workshop for Secondary School Teachers On content and SLOs Based Teaching and Assessment held at Gilgit-Baltistan Level

In the light of  worthy Secretary schools Education GB’s vision and directives 10 days capacity building workshop for  more than  five hundred secondary school teachers of Gilgit Baltisatan has been simultaneously inaugurated at the capitals of District Gilgit, Skardu and Diamer. However, the central opening ceremony was inaugurated by the Honorable Secretary Schools Education Mr. Rehman Shah on 1st August, 2023 at Govt Boys High school No.1 Gilgit. This grand initiative was taken in response to the recent unsatisfactory results in the Annual SSC Exams. Such a commendable step has been taken by Mr. Rehman Shah to enhance the Capacity and capabilities of Secondary School Teachers (SSTs) in various subjects like English, Math, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Urdu, Islamiyat, and Pak Studies. The fundamental objective of the workshop was to update teachers’ content knowledge, methodologies, and teaching skills, enabling them to deliver improved results and prepare students for the challenges of the modern age.

Under the valuable guidance of Mr. Rehman Shah, Secretary Schools Education, has designed a comprehensive training program to elevate the expertise of teachers in SSC subjects. This training aimed to equip them effectively to meet the demands of the new era. The diligent efforts of the esteemed Directors & Deputy Directors in implementing this initiative across the three districts of GB deserve appreciation. His direction to all concerned Directors and Deputy Directors ensured a smooth and successful training process.

The CBW training was scheduled from 1st August 2023 to 10th August 2023, was being conducted by subject specialists and experienced teachers who are dedicated to impart knowledge and skills with utmost commitment. Special recognition goes to all the management teams of education department GB for their close monitoring and supervision, ensuring the successful implementation of this initiative.

This praiseworthy initiative aimed to empower teachers with the necessary knowledge and skills to prepare their students with confidence for a successful future. Through this endeavor, teachers will be better equipped to guide their students through the challenges of the modern age, fostering a brighter and more promising educational landscape in Gilgit Baltistan.

The capacity building workshop on student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) was organized with the primary objective of empowering teachers with the necessary knowledge, skills, and tools to enhance the effectiveness of their teaching methods and improves student learning outcomes. The workshop was conducted under the collaboration of different departments of education and it aimed to provide an effective platform for teachers to gain insights into the importance of SLOs and how to integrate them into their teaching practices.

Opening Address by the Secretary Schools Education GB:

The workshop commenced with an opening address by Mr. Rehman Shah who highlighted the importance of student-centric education and emphasized the role of teachers in shaping the future of nation. The Secretary’s speech laid the foundation for the subsequent discussions.

The closing ceremony was graced by the esteemed presence of Mr. Rehman Shah, Secretary Schools Education GB, who assumed the role of Chief Guest. Alongside him, Mr. Aqil Hussain, Director Academics of Gilgit Region, and Mr. Muhammad Musa, Director TSDC added their distinguished presence to the occasion.

Closing Ceremony:

During the ceremony, Mr. Rehman Shah, in his role as Secretary Schools, delivered an inspiring address, commending both the Master Trainers and the Trainee Teachers for their enthusiastic participation throughout the intensive 10-day Capacity Building workshop. He expressed his optimistic outlook for the future, anticipating that the newly acquired skills and innovative teaching methods would be wholeheartedly embraced by the trainee teachers, leading to rapid advancements in student learning outcomes.

Similarly, the closing ceremony events were held at districts of Skardu and Diamer under supervision of Directors and Deputy Directors concerned.
